Engineer Your World

Welcome to Engineer Your World Dual Enrollment!

The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) is pleased to offer students in Engineer Your World’s Engineering Design and Analysis (EYW: Design) high school course a unique opportunity to earn college-level credit in the spring semester.

Students interested in applying for the dual-enrollment opportunity must submit a portfolio of materials based on the work done in their EYW: Design high school classrooms. All materials will be submitted electronically. There is no requirement for students to be physically present on the UT Austin campus. Students successfully completing the course requirements will be awarded credit for up to a 3-unit, freshman level course on Engineering Design and Problem Solving.

All application materials will be reviewed and scored, and students will be provided with the score for their application materials. For students who are admitted, their application score will count toward their UT Austin course grade. The remainder of their UT course grade will be determined by work submitted during the spring semester and based on the units in EYW: Design. Students who earn a passing grade on the entire body of their work will receive three hours of credit for a freshman-level engineering course at UT Austin. Students’ grades in the UT Austin course will be determined independent of, and will not influence, their grades in the high school course.

What are next steps?

This portal has been developed for the submission and tracking of your application materials and notification status. We recommend you bookmark this site, https://dualenroll.engineeryourworld.org/, as you will visit it regularly.

If you wish to participate in this opportunity to earn college credit at UT Austin, the next step is to create a portal account by clicking on the “create account” tab and then complete the required fields. Please do this by September 30. The pre-application tasks should only take a few minutes to complete. You will not receive a notification when you create your portal account, but if you are able to log in to the site, you're all set.

Special Note: Creating an account and submitting an application portfolio does not obligate you to participate in the dual enrollment opportunity in any way, so if you are at all interested, please create an account and go for it!

You will then:

  1. login via the “login” tab
  2. complete the application form found on the “dual enroll application” tab and
  3. submit your portfolio of materials using the instructions provided.

What must be included in the application portfolio?

The application portfolio is based-on the Discovering Design design challenge. Click on the "dual enroll application" tab for detailed information on what should be included in your portfolio.

When is the deadline?

You MUST upload your files by midnight Central Time on November 15. Students admitted to the UT Engineering Design and Problem Solving course will be notified right around December 20. Students not admitted to the course will also be notified around this same time.

What does it cost?

There is no cost to apply for this program. For students who choose to enroll in a course at a UT system school, there is a course fee due in January. For those who are unable to pay the course fee, a limited number of fee waivers are available. The waiver application will be provided when students are notified of their application portfolio score.
